At the southern tip of Oahu (Hawaii),
in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is a thriving city full of life and exciting. The city grew around Waikiki, one of the most famous beaches in the world. Like the other islands of Hawaii, Oahu is on the top of a huge volcano, although it has been extinct for tens of thousands of years, volcanic soils give the interior a lush green island that acts as a backdrop to the city and beaches. Settled by Polynesians immigrants since the 12th century, it became in the 19th century an important stopping point on the trade routes between Asia and North America. It was also a major naval base of the United States. Do not miss the St Andrew’s Cathedral, a walk to the vulcanic zone of Diamond Head, the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and the Waikiki Beach. You can get beautiful views along the coast if you take a helicopter ride. Hotels in Honolulu
