In the central part of Italy,
lies the capital and the beautiful city of Rome, a powerful centre political, economic and religious since 2500 years ago. Situated at the confluence of the River Aniene and the Tiber River, Rome is one of the most historic and charming cities in the world. In Vatican you can find the Basilica of St. Peter, St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican museums which includes the Sistine Chapel, the Gallery of Maps or the Raphael Rooms. All cities would like to grow old as Rome. It is a city where there is no lack of history and culture, the most important museums are the National Roman Museum, the Borghese Gallery, the Capitoline Museums, the National Gallery of Ancient Art among others. The Roman Forum and the Imperial Forum near the Colosseum show how people lived in ancient Rome. Something wonderful in the city are the piazzas (squares), Piazza della Rotonda with its magnificent Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo, Campo dei Fiore and Piazza Venezia with the huge Monument to Vittorio Emmanuel II are good examples. It is also remarkable the huge amount of beautiful fountains in Rome as the Trevi Fountain. It is dubbed by many as the most beautiful city in the world, history is not lacking and there should be few people who do not enjoy this beautiful city once the capital of a gigantic empire. Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) International Airport (FCO) – It is the Rome’s main airport, there are flights to and from the main cities of the world.
Trains leave the Leonardo da Vinci Airport every 30 minutes to the station Roma Termini. The ticket costs 15€ (14€ if you buy online, so if there are three person it’s cheaper get a taxi.
There are buses from Leonardo da Vinci Airport to the city centre (Roma Termini), the journey takes 55 minutes and the ticket costs 6€ one way and 11€ return (cheaper if you buy online).
Ciampino International Airport (CIA) – The second airport of Rome with many low cost company flights based there.
There are buses from Ciampino Airport to the city centre, the journey takes 40 minutes and the ticket costs 6€ one and 12€ return.
You can take a bus from Ciampino Airport to Anagnina Metro Station then a Metro to the station closer from your hotel. This option is cheaper than the direct bus.
By Train – Rome is connected by train to the main Italian cities.
By Boat – Lots of Rome tourists arrived to the city by a cruise that stops in Civitavecchia, this city has train and bus connections to/from Rome.
