It is one of the most beautiful
churches of Florence, in 1456 the merchant Giovanni Rucellai commissioned the architect and art theorist, Leone Battista Alberti, a remodeling of the façade of the Dominican church located in Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The original façade dating from the thirteenth century highlights are both gothic portals. The cloister is an oasis of peace and it houses the Museum’s Santa Maria Novella. The interior of the church is a refinement and an impressive wealth, do not miss “The Trinity” by Masaccio, the inside frescos of the Cappella Strozzi by Filippino Lippi, “The Crucifix” by Giotto, and the frescoes by Ghirlandaio. It is one of the most beautiful churches of Florence.
