The Palais Royal is a former royal palace
situated near the Louvre in Paris. In the late 18th century, the palace and its garden were subject to major renovations to the Dukes of Orléans. The architect Victor Louis was responsible to refurbish the palace. Originally called Palais Cardinal, the palace was the official residence of the Cardinal Richelieu. Today in the arcades, there are specialized stores, restaurants and galleries. The palace houses today the Ministry of Culture and the Comédie Française. Hotels in Paris
