The term Loire valley it means
the area between Orleans and Angers. The valley divides France, in the north the climate is mild and humid in the south the climate is drier and hotter. The rich history, art and architecture as well as the cuisine and wines of the Loire are a unique region. The most famous wines of this area are Chinon, the Bourgeuil, the Sancerre and Muscadet. The fact that it is a very fertile area along with the easy transportation provided by the Loire River, has made this area highly desirable for wealthy gentlemen settled here. These factors led to the string of castles built there fabulous. There are many castles, visit them all could take weeks. The UNESCO considered the whole area World Heritage Site, it would be very difficult to choose individual castles for the distinction. Among the most famous castles of the Loire, are the Chenonceau, the Azay-le-Rideau, the Blois, the Chambord and the Villandry. The Loire Valley is a great landmark not just in the region but in all France. The Loire Valley is often referred as “The Garden of France”.
