Lake Van is a beautiful lake in Turkey
and was formed when a lava flow of Nemrut Dagi blocked the river that runs through this plain. The Lake Van is an important stopover for migratory birds on their way to and from Africa. The lake has 4000 sq km (1550 sq mi), a diameter of 119 km (74 mi) and 200 m (660 ft) deep in some places. The lake is surrounded by high mountains and has stunning views.
