The golden yellow glow when you fly over this beautiful island
belong to the portuguese archipelago of Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean. The locals call “painting made by god”, Porto Santo has a gorgeous beach with 9 km (6 mi) of fine golden sand. Tourism is very little developed in contrast to the island of Madeira that is located at 46 kms (29 mi) from Porto Santo. Before the Portuguese navigator João Gonçalves Zarco arrived at Madeira, passed through here in the year 1418. He thought it was a safe haven on their way to Africa, the navigator called the island, Porto Santo (Port Sant). It is one of Europe’s less developed islands for tourism, the long beach almost deserted, begin to see grow some resorts. It is one of the pearls of Portugal, near Madeira, an island with plenty of tourism but no sandy beaches. Do not miss the Christopher Columbus house and museum and the island fortress (Pico do Castelo). Rent a bike and explore the small island. Hotels in Porto Santo
