Known as “Pearl of Danube”
Budapest was composed by three different cities. Óbuda and Buda (the medieval city on Castle Hill) are on the west bank of the river Danube, Pest (the administrative and commercial city) is on the east bank, in 1873 they were merged. Budapest has some UNESCO World Heritage Sites and has its heart around the Castle Hill area. In this area stands the Buda Castle, the Historical Museum of Budapest and the gothic Mathias Church. The Szechenyi Chain Bridge is the most beautiful bridge that connects Buda and Pest areas. The Parliament Building is very beautiful and stands by the river. Also in Pest don’t miss the St Stephen’s Basilica, the Heroes Square, the Hungarian National Museum, the Hungarian State Opera and the major commercial street Vaci Utca. Margaret Island is a beautiful island in the centre of Budapest, is situated in river Danube, excellent to enjoy the parks and gardens. Budapest is very famous for its termal baths, you must visit Szechenyi Baths near Heroes Square. Another option is the charming Gellert Hotel. Hotels in Budapest
