Brussels is the capital of Belgium,

the European Union (EU) and the politic headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The city flourished in the 15th century as the capital of the principality of the Netherlands, integral and important part of the Roman Empire. Brussels has lots of landmarks, the best known is the Grand Place (or Grote Markt), one of the most beautiful squares in the world. In Grand Place lies the beautiful City Hall (Hôtel de Ville), the Maison du Roi and some Guilds. Nearby the square, lies the Stock Exchange building and a small statue that is one of the major attractions of the city, the Manneken Pis. Don’t miss the two royal palaces, the cathedral, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Atomium, the symbol of the World Expo 1958. In the historic center and close to the Grand Place (Grote Markt) there is an ideal place for shopping, the Galeries St Hubert. During some days of August every two years, the Grand Place became a flower carpet, the name of the event is Tapis de Fleurs. French and Dutch are the officially languages in Brussels, informations are usually in both languages. It’s easy to get Brussels, you can use the main Brussels airport or the Charleroi airport also known as Brussels South, this airport has a lot of cheap flights mostly operated by low cost airlines, train is also an option with several connections to/from France, the Netherlands and other Belgium cities.  Is also possible to go from Brussels to London by Eurostar train.
