In the north of Jiangxi province in China
lies the Lushan National Park, considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Located around the Mount Lushan or just Mount Lu, with an area of 302 km2 (117 sq mi) across defined as a protected area, has about 100 scenic peaks, the higher of all is the Dahanyang Peak with 1474 m (4836 ft). Mount Lushan is considered the “home” of many Taoists, Buddhists and Confucians. There is a school of higher education of China’s which is very famous called The White Deer Cave Academy located precisely in this area. It was originally built by Li Bo, an official of the Tang dynasty in the early seventh century, was later expanded during the Song dynasty already. It is one of four major academies of China, there studied philosophers such as Zhu Xi and Lu Xiangshan. The clear and limpid waters of Poyang Lake can be seen from the base of Mount Lushan. Five Elderly Men Peaks (Wulaofeng) is a famous summer resort very popular among locals and visitors of the region. There are other beautiful lakes in the area lakes that have inspired Chinese poets for many centuries. These sites offer stupendous sunrise and sunset. The Flower Path (Huajing) is known for its great beauty, is a place where beautiful peach blossoms blend with the leaves of other trees in a stunning spectacle of color. In the area also highlights the Immortal Cavern (Xianrendong) where according to legend, an immortal lived an eternal Spring. A stone statue which is carved a head of a dragoncan also be seen. It is said that if you visit China in the Spring without being in Lushuan this visit is not valid, because this beautiful natural park has a different brightness during this time of year. Located in the north of Jiangxi province, Lushan is refered as a birthplace of Pure Land Buddhism. Jiujiang and Nanchang are the closest cities to get Mount Lushan.
