Sitting at the head of the lake created

by the Three Gorges Dam, Chongqing is a port city and inside an incredible landscape with a rich culture and history. In 1940, Chongqing was the temporary location of the Nationalist government of Chiang Kai-Shek. The city is one of the main getaways for tours to the Three Gorges Dam, west of the city but still far from the centre lies the Dazu Rock Carvings, carved during the Tang Dynasty, the themes are Buddhist and are considered by UNESCO World Heritage Site.
