It was the first national park

in Canada in 1885, the majestic outlines of the vast blue skies summarize the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its splendor, rugged scenery, the park attracts more than 4 million visitors a year. The Banff National Park covers 6642 km2 (2564 sq mi) of lush meadows, pine, lush fir, aspen and saruce forests. Besides the breathtaking scenery, Banff is famous for its wildlife including Mountain Goats, Elks, Mooses, Bighorn Sheeps, Mule Deers, Cougars, Black and Grizzly Bears. The park is home to seven historical sites – Skoki Lodge, Abbot Pass Hut, Cave and Basin, Hawse Pass, Banff Park Museum, Banff Springs Hotel and Cosmic Ray Observatory on Sanson Peak.
