Tasmania is a world apart in every way.
The famous island that was a place to create penal settlements, is nowadays very well preserved. The pace is slower in Tasmania than on the mainland, the island is known for its beautiful beaches and nature places, it is also a good place for lovers of good food and good wine. It has 360 km (224 mi) long and 306 km (190 mi) wide, is big enough to relax and know the mountainous interior and the stunning beaches of the beautiful coast. The first European to sight Tasmania was Dutch navigator Abel Tasman in 1642, later other explorers came like James Cook and William Bligh. The arrival of these men was bad news for aboriginal who lost their land and were “pushed” to Flinders Island so that Tasmania to be “civilized.” Some corners of Tasmania are sometimes compared to the green pastures of England. The inland Tasmania has also beautiful places as Cradle Mountain. The capital Hobart is a modern city and very beautiful and the arrival of the yachts in the Sydney–Hobart race should be seen. One of the most beautiful places in Tasmania is Wineglass Bay (picture above). There are several flights from Australian cities and ferries from Sydney and Melbourne. The famous Tasmanian Devil can be found here. Hotels in Tasmania
