Brisbane was founded in 1824
and became the capital of Queensland in 1859. After World War II, Brisbane began to grow much, people were attracted by the relaxed lifestyle, great weather and easy access to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Brisbane is not far from the southern Great Barrier Reef. Close Brisbane there are you can visit Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island and Fraser Island, with beautiful beaches, great surf and yachting. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is one of the most visited places in Australia and is located very close to the city centre.
