The islands of Ang Thong Marine National Park
are about 50 islands in southern Thailand about 30 km (20 m) from Koh Samui. Most are uninhabited and were saved from development because the area was used by the Thai Navy before being granted the status of national park. The islands are a dream for any photographer, with limestone cliffs, tropical vegetation, caves, hidden lagoons, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and jellyfish. The headquarters of the national park is on the island of Ko Wua Ta Lap. The 41 island and islets around Ko Samui, which form the Ao Thong National Marine Park (or Ang Thong) are a kayaker’s dream.
