Brasilia

The city began to be built in 1956,

it was designed to be the capital of Brazil and was officially opened in April 1960. The architect Óscar Niemeyer was the project leader of the city which in 1987 became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The main buildings are the Alvorada Palace, the official presidential residence, the National Congress, the Cultural Complex of the Republic and the Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge. The cathedral, also built by Niemeyer, is considered by many the most important landmark of Brasilia. The TV Tower offers breathtaking views over the city, Don Bosco Chapel also allows beautiful views over Lake Paranoa. You must visit the City Park (Parque da Cidade), the National Park of Brasilia and the Poço Azul waterfalls. Brasilia is a great getaway to visit the stunning Chapada of Veadeiros National Park.
