The Drakensberg is the highest mountain
range in South Africa and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the mountains are over 3000 m (10000 ft), there are over 40,000 rock paintings in the caves of the region. The inhabitants of the Drakensberg Mountains called the air surrounding mountains “champagne air” due to breezes foaming around the pinnacles.
