Taos is a very peculiar town located
in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is famous for its architecture, historic sites and be a ski resort. It has a great mix of native cultures with Spanish and Anglo-American and it will be represented in its songs, dances, cuisine and festivals. The Historic Taos Plaza and its side streets all have old adobe buildings, this whole area is excellent for sightseeing. Taos Pueblo is the ancient city of Tiwa tribe and is located 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) north of the modern part of town. This settlement construction in reddish-brown adobe was built between the years 1000 and 1450 and is inhabited until the present day. It is a National Historic Landmark and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In 1898 was created the Taos Society of Artists, and many artists began to settle in the city. It is worth visiting some of the studios of artists which includes the Blumenschein House. Taos is a considerable altitude with its highest point (Wheeler Peak) reaching 4011 m (13,161 ft), often have activities of skiing and other winter sports that delight visitors. Taos is a natural paradise, in addition to skiing, horseback riding, hiking, cycling, enjoying the beautiful mountains can still cayaking or rafting on the Rio Grande Gorge.
