Monument Valley is an area of sandstone formations
where some reach the 300 m (1000 ft) from the desert floor leading to one of the most famous images of the American West. These red tables are surrounded by vast desert landscapes of the most impressive of the United States. Located within the Navajo Indian reservation in southeastern Utah, the most famous landmarks of Monument Valley are near the small town of Goulding. This small village is distant 250 km (175 mi) from the nearest town is Flagstaff, Arizona. Although small, Goulding has a great number of services so that visitors do not miss anything of Monument Valley. The visitor center offers stunning views but to see much of the park have to use the Valley Drive, a road of 27 km (17 mi). The Totem Pole is a great tower of 91 m (300 ft) that can be enjoyed along the way. The valley has a wide and desolate landscape but worth seeing. It’s the Wild West at its best.
