Considered a triumph of Baroque
the Palace Ca ‘Pesaro has a curious history. The Pesaro family acquired between 1558 and 1628 three palaces but ordered us to demolish, to build one of gigantic proportions. In 1628 the family Pesaro, gave Baldassare Longhena the responsibility to build a majestic palace but in 1682 Longhena died and the palace had just completed the first floor. Palazzo Ca’Pesaro is one of the most beautiful palaces of Grand Canal in Venice. Antonio Gaspari completed the work in 1710. The ostentatious aspect, that the palace had was considered unsuitable for a noble Venetian family. Since 1902 the palace Ca ‘Pesaro houses the Museum of Modern Art, and today the building also houses the Museum of Oriental Art.
