Stromboli, “The Lighthouse of Mediterranean”
is the most remote of the Aeolian Islands. It is the summit of a volcanic mountain, 926 m (2950 ft) out of the Tyrrhenian Sea, more than 1500 m (5000 ft) is submerged. Stromboli is on the northern coast of Sicily and is one of the most active volcanoes on the Earth. There are constant eruptions, in the last years there were two eruptions, one in 2002 and other in 2007. There are boats from Lipari to Stromboli.
