The most important city of northern Italy is Milan,

Transports in Milan
Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) – It’s one of the most busiest airports of Europe with many continental and intercontinental connections.
Bus shuttle to/from Central Station costs 10€. There are 2 or 3 buses per hour and the journey takes about 45 minutes.
Trains are also available between Malpensa and Central Station of Milan.
Linate Airport (LIN) – There are many connections between European cities and Linate Airport.
Bus Starfly costs 5€ and the journey takes 30 minutes.
Orio al Serio Airport (BGY) – This airport is located in the neighbor city of Bergamo and receives mostly low cost flights. There are trains between Milan Central Station and Bergamo.
By Train – There are trains to/from many Italian cities to Milan Central Station. There are also connections from cities of Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
