Gubbio is an Italian city located
near Perugia, known for its medieval architecture. The Gothic dominates the narrow streets of dark gray stone. The city developed to defend the wealth and power acquired as a city-state. The Romans built the second largest theatre of the empire, outside the walls. Within the walls is a magnificent 12th century cathedral, the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo dei Console, the Church of San Francesco and the Palazzo and Torre Gabrieli.
