Elba is located 20 km (12 mi)
from the city of Piombino on the Tuscan coast. It is the main island of the Tuscan archipelago, much visited by Italians, especially in the summer. Phoenicians, Greeks, Etruscans and Romans passed through Elba, an island with a vast landscape of mountains, meadows and forests. Portoferraio is the main town of Elba, a fortified town which often defended the island from attack. Napoleon was exiled in Elba where he was just ten months. Elba has cliffs, lavender fields, olive groves, Etruscan villages, stylish villas and breathtaking beaches as Cavoli or Enfoli. Three ferry companies make the journey between Piombino and Portoferraio (Elba). Hotels in Elba
