The northeast of Italy is limited
by the stunning Dolomites Mountains. The Dolomites has their name from Deodat de Dolomieu, a French geologist that in 1790 determined that the rocks of the area contained magnesium. The Dolomites has 18 peaks over 3050 m (10000 ft), Marmolada is the highest peak in the region with 41 glaciers. The adjacent Alpes de Siusi is a plateau where the alpine meadows are surrounded by awesome mountains. During the summer there are many paths and trails through the valley like the Ombretta Valley. Trento and Bolzano are two Italian cities and great getaways to explore Dolomites. Hotels in Dolomites
