Situated on the Mediterranean coast,

Marseille is the most important port in France. Sometimes considered dirty, rude and dangerous, Marseille is nevertheless a charming city, exciting, colourful and multicultural. The city centre is being renovated, with works in buildings that have spent decades in decline. Marseille is connected to Paris by high speed train (TGV). Near the old port, is the main avenue of the city, La Canebiere. It is around the old harbour, which beats the heart of Marseille, do not miss the two forts, Fort St. Nicholas and Fort St Jean. The most famous monument of Marseille, is the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde. The oldest part of the city called Le Panier.
