The Gorges of Spelunca, 30km (19 mi) south
of Calvi, is a tourist destination in the northwest of the French island of Corsica. Situated between the mountain villages of Ota and Evisa, Gorge Spelunca is a long canyon with red and granite walls. It is one of the Corsica’s most famous natural sites, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The gorge is acessible from both villages but most people starts from the cemetery of Evisa. The descent is really worthy, the trail leads through passing wind scoured rock pinnacles, shady woods and bare rock faces to the valley and an elegant old Genovese stone bridge called Pont de Zaglia. On the valley lies a little resort of Porto. On the west of Evisa is the Fôret d’Aitone National Park. Hotels in Corsica
