Erzurum is a city situated at 1950 m (6400 ft)
high plateau surrounded by the eastern Anatolian mountains in Turkey. The city lies in the junction of the old Central Asian trade routes. Erzurum was the base for the Turkish War of Independence, in 1919 there was a congress in the city that ended the Ottoman rule in Turkey. You must eat a Cag Kebab, a local speciality.
