In the 9th century,
a tomb believed to be of Saint James the Apostle, was discovered in Santiago de Compostela. In the Middle Ages, this city had become the third most important place of Christian pilgrimage after Vatican and Jerusalem. Currently, tourists and pilgrims make the route from northern Spain to the Cathedral. The imposing Cathedral of Santiago was built between , 11th and 13th centuries at the place, where was a basilica from the 9th century. Though the Baroque façade was added, the interior remains untouchable for 800 years. The cathedral and its square, are the most important points of Santiago de Compostela, but the narrow streets of the Medieval are lovely and worth to be seen. It is one of the most important cities of the Spanish region of Galicia. Hotels in Santiago
