On the south coast of Mallorca,
Palma is the capital of the island and the capital of the Balearic Islands. Over the centuries it was occupied by Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Spanish, was the basis of pirates and privateers in the 17th century flourished in 1800. Since 1950, tourism began to grow and today Mallorca receives more than 10 million tourists per year. Many come to explore the island’s beaches and do not even know this wonderful city. The Gothic cathedral locally known as La Seu (picture above) and Almudaina Palace (picture below), residence of Moorish kings, are the main buildings of Palma. Transports in Palma
Palma Airport (PMI): It is one of the most busiest airports of Spain, there are flights to/from many European cities.
By ferry: There are ferries to/from mainland cities like Valencia, Denia and Barcelona, and to/from Ibiza and Mahon in Menorca.
