The “Alta Velocidad EspaƱola”
is known as AVE (bird in Spanish) is a modern train capable of traveling at 350 kmh (220 mph), is the equivalent of the French TGV. The AVE works since 1992 but only in 2008 the line Madrid – Zaragoza – Barcelona was completed. The 660 km (410 mi) separating Madrid from Barcelona, now takes 2 hours and 38 minutes. It has become more convenient and faster than making the trip by plane because it avoids the check-in. The scenery along the way varies widely but is a good way to know the regions of Aragon and Catalonia. Midway is a UNESCO world heritage city, Zaragoza. Hotels in Spain
