The historic railway line linking Tua to Mirandela
is not only the most beautiful train ride of Portugal but also from Iberian Peninsula. They are 54 km (34 mi) in a rocky gorge that follows the course of the River Tua. It was a great engineering feat completed in 1887 after three years of very hard work that included use large quantities of dynamite in the mountains. Currently line is in danger of disappearing due to the construction of a dam.
