The Botanical Garden of Madeira,
has more than 2500 plants from all continents that coexist harmoniously. It has more than 300 exotic birds and 200 species indigenous of region. The gardens occupy the site of a property that belonged to the Reid family (founder of the famous Reid’s Palace Hotel), the family built his mansion on a sunny hillside with panoramic views over Funchal. Quinta do Bom Sucesso is the name of the property, which in 1952, the Government acquired the Reid family. Now houses the Natural History Museum.
