Poznan is a Polish city situated on the banks of the River Warta.
It is known as the birthplace of Poland and was the sacred site, Ostrow Tumski, that the Prince Miesko I, accepted the Christianity as symbolic baptism of the Polish nation. Later, his son, Boleslaw, “the brave”, was crowned king in the same place. The Gothic cathedral replaced the Castle Mieszko in 968 and is a beautiful place to visit. Don’t miss the Economics Academy, the Stare Rynek (Old Market Square), the Town Hall, the Kaiser Wilhelm II Imperial Palace and the Opera. Hotels in Poznan
