In the valley of the Carpathian Plateau, on the
Vistula river banks, lies the city of Krakow. The old town (Stare Miasto) houses thousands of Barroque and Gothic buildings and over a million works of art. Wawel is a large fortified hill where stands the Royal Castle. Don’t miss also the St Mary’s Gothic Cathedral, the Market Square (Rynek Glowny), the Town Hall, the Old Synagogue, the Barbican and Czartoryski Museum.
