The Frisian Islands are shared by
Netherlands on West and Germany on East. The Netherlands has 14 islands (five inhabited), Germany has 12 (7 inhabited). Most of the west islands are very small, inhabited in small settlements. There are beautiful beaches with sand dunes on the islands of the North Sea. Texel is the largest island and a beautiful nature reserve. The landscape of sand dunes and a network of bicycle paths, encourages exploration by cycle. Don’t miss Vlieland and Terschelling. You can get the islands from Amsterdam by car then ferry from Den Helder. Hotels in West Frisia
