Korcula Island is located on the southern coast
of Croatia, on the Adriatic, Central Dalmatia. The mountainous island with pine forests, olive groves and aroma of wild herbs, is one of the largest of the 1000 islands of Croatia. The north coast has the best beaches, especially near Lumbarda. Korcula Town is the main settlement of the island, has 12 impressive towers, a legacy left by the Venetians. There are several Venetian palaces in Korcula, they ruled the island since 1420 to 1779. Don’t miss the St Mark’s Cathedral, the Ameri Palace, the Ismaeli Gabrielli and the 17th-century Bishop Palace.
