of the Tian Shan Mountains in the west of the country, near the borders with Kyrgyztan and Tajikistan. Kashgar is located on the site at the junction of two branches of the ancient silk route between east and west. Kashgar is in a dry region that receives only a few millimeters of rain a year. The Kah Mosque is the largest in China with yellow walls and a beautiful architecture. The Tomb of Abakh Khoja is the holiest islamic site in the region and a pilgrimage destination. Kashgar is also known as Kashi.
