Forbidden City was the
imperial palace from the Ming Dinasty until the Qing Dinasty. It’s located in the heart of Beijing and now houses the Palace Museum. The complex has 980 buildings and covers an area of 720 000 sq m2 (7 800 000 sq ft) and is one of the most fascinating places of the world. In 1987 UNESCO declared the Forbidden City, World Heritage Site. It is one of the most visited places of Beijing. You can enter the Forbidden City through the Gate of Heavenly Peace in Tiananmen. When used to be the imperial palaces of Ming and Qing Dinasties, ordinary people were not allowed in, hence it was called “Forbidden City”. Hotels in Beijing
