In the southwestern coast of Thailand,
between the mainland and the Phi Phi Islands, there’s another archipelago less known and less tourism, Ko Lanta. There are 52 islands, 12 inhabited, Ko Lanta Yai is the largest and where services are more centralized. On this island there are two settlementes Ban Sala Dan on the north and Ban Ko Lanta, the capital, on the east. Fishing and tourism are the economic basis of Ko Lanta, the islands have beautiful beaches, many of who come here have been to Phi Phi Islands and now prefer something quieter, less tourism. Ko Lanta Yai is the largest island but you must go to other around that also have wonderful beaches such as Ko Mook or Ko Rok. Ko Lanta is connected by ferry from Krabi and Phi Phi Islands.
