Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple located
on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. The full name of the temple is Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan. Wat Arun is one of Thailand’s most famous landmarks, Wat Arun means Temple of Dawn, because the first morning light, reflected on the surface of the temple. Before calling Wat Arun, a monastery already existed for many years, since the time when Ayutthaya was the capital. The main feature of Wat Arun is its central prang, a Khmer-style tower that has embedded colored porcelain. The corners of the temple is surrounded by four smaller prangs. Most tour packages in Bangkok stop at Wat Arun. To enter the temple, foreigners have to pay a ticket 50 thai baht.
