Caracas is the capital and largest city of Venezuela.
Situated in the north in a narrow mountain valley close the Caribbean Sea, is separated from the coast by the 2400 m (7872ft) high of Mount Avila. The Spanish Captain Diego de Losada founded the city in 1567, during the 20th century, there was a petroleum-rich Venezuela, and Caracas modernized becoming one of the most important centers of South America.
