Praça XV de Novembro (November)
is probably the most important square of Rio de Janeiro. The historic square in the heart of Rio witnessed the arrival of Portuguese Prince Regent João, escaped from Napoleon troops in 1808. Praça XV also served as the centre of Brazil’s political power under the Portuguese rule. This square has beautiful buildings like the Church of Santa Cruz dos Militares, the Church Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo and the Palace Tiradentes. Hotels in Rio de Janeiro
