Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden
is a haven of peace from the sweaty urban rush. Just behind the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and Ipanema Beach, this Botanical Garden offers bird-watching, beautiful fountains and plants grouped in distinct areas. There are over 6500 species distributed in an area of 54 hectares. The Botanical Garden was founded in 1808 by King John VI of Portugal. In 1992 was designated Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The views of Corcovado are wonderful. It’s one of the most beautiful places of Rio de Janeiro. Hotels in Rio de Janeiro
