Salta is a city in northwestern Argentina,
capital of the province with the same name. Located in the foothills of the Andes, Salta has a colonial architecture and breathtaking scenery around. Salta was founded by the Spanish in 1582 but became an important fortress against them during the War of Independence in the early 19th century. Nevertheless, the inhabitants of Salta are proud of Spanish heritage such as traditional dance, music and cuisine. Salta is a good starting point to Tren de la Nubes. Another legacy visible are the baroque churches. Hotels in Salta
