Essaouira is one of the best known
coastal cities of Morocco. The foreign tourists visiting Essaouira has grown in recent years, some of them liked it so much that they ended up buying a old riad and became residents in these very peculiar houses, masterly decorated. Essaouira has a charm very own because it has many cultural mixtures derived from various people passing through the city for centuries. The Phoenician mariners were in Essaouira in the 7th century and the Portuguese built a fort in 1506. The Grand Place looks more like a square of France than one in Africa. Do not miss the Skala de la Ville, the medina (old town) and the Mellar (old Jewish Quarter). The surfers love the waves of Essaouira, known as the windy city. Diabat and “Portuguese castle in sand” was made famous by Jimi Hendrix in 1960. Hotels in Essaouira
