The Mount Kenya National Park,
considered by UNESCO a World Heritage Site since 1997 was opened to the public in 1949. The Mount Kenya has one of the most impressive landscapes in Eastern Africa, there are 12 remnant glaciers on the mountain. At 5199 m (17000 ft), Mount Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa, after Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
