The Lake Nakuru is one of the
most famous lakes of Kenya, is situated 160 km (100 mi) of Nairobi, the national capital. The lake is notable for hosting more than one million flamingos which are attracted by the algae that grow in warm, shallow and alkaline waters of the lake. In the dry season, the lake is just 5 sq km (2 sq mi) during the rains is 45 sq km (17 sq mi). Pelicans and cormorants are also common in Lake Nakuru.
